Who we are
We are a small team of researchers and writers who got tired of "best of" lists that were obviously rewritten from a press release. Our focus is the unglamorous part of smart home buying: what works with what, which extra box you are about to be talked into, and what the whole setup costs once subscriptions are counted.
How we research
- Official documentation first. Specs, manuals and compatibility lists from the manufacturer are the starting point for every claim we make.
- Checklists over verdicts. We write the questions that decide which product fits your room and budget, instead of pretending one device wins everywhere.
- Claims labeled as claims. Manufacturer statements and our own recommendations are kept clearly apart.
- Full setup costs. Hubs, border routers and subscriptions are counted before anything gets recommended.
- Revisited, not forgotten. Guides are re-checked when standards or product lines change, and updates are dated.
What we do not do
- We do not accept payment for coverage or for a positive mention.
- We do not describe untested products as hands-on reviews, and we do not invent scores.
- We do not let brands preview articles before publication.
